Wimbley Update
THANK YOU ALL so much for all your love, thoughts, prayers, well wishes and encouraging stories. It means the world to all of us here at Marty Mouse House and we feel the love and appreciate it more than I can express.
This photo was taken of Wimbley moments ago, so you can see he is still very much bright eyed and himself. Be assured that he is getting the best care and is comfortable. We are doing and have done all we can to help him get better, and now we just have to wait and see if the meds can do the job to bring back some function to his arms and legs. He is still getting himself around, and still refuses to poop outside of the litter box – such a good boy! He is otherwise young, healthy and strong willed, so we are holding out hope for improvement. We have a great vet and have been four times this week. We started out thinking that it was HLP (hind leg paralysis and somewhat common in male rats) caused by the calcified disc in his spine which we discovered last January when Wimbley had to be in his healing apartment for a bit, but when the front end starting having issues we changed course and started treatment for a PT (pituitary tumor). Still not 100% sure that is what it is, but it’s most likely. Meds have been administered, and will continue to be. Let’s all keep hoping, praying and vibing and all those sorts of things that they will work their wonders!
HUGE THANKS for the online and phone support of the rat community’s gem, Karen Grant, who talked me though a pretty tough night last night (really more for me, than for him). We are so grateful to have her love and medical advice!
Oh Wimbley, please, please get well, lovely boy. I hope with all my heart that it is not a pituitary tumour.

Dearest Wimbley,
Marty gave our rats their language, so our rat household is very indebted to yours. Ranger is my big squish and he also has a pituitary tumor. We enjoy every day we have and are so grateful to you for the joy and amusement your adventures bring is. Love you so much, Wimbley!
You’re welcome, good luck! 😀 :3
Good to hear he is doing better. Hope he will be well. Maurizio and Rodolfo have no problem going outside a litter box. They think everything is a litter box! We all wish you well,
So sorry that you are hurting. I’ll be praying for you. I love you guys so much! You are like a family to me. I love always hearing about your travels & what you guys are up to.
Get well Wimbley. Everyone here in our household, humans, dogs, and rats alike, are praying for your recovery and wish you the best.
All our loce wimbley!
Mj and hamish
Poor Wimbley! He seems young for a PT. Did you rule out stroke?
Lots of love to you and ALL the boys!
Stroke probably wouldn’t be progressive and bilateral. Some rates just, unfortunately, develop PTs young. A couple of mine did. 🙁
Oh god, I’m so sorry. Wimbley, you keep fighting baby boy, you hear me?
I’m so sorry. PTs are the pits. At least the medical options have improved since my experiences. Huge hugs to MM and MD, as well as scritches to Wimbles. You beautiful, darling boy.
Poor Wimbley. Hope you get better soon young man.
So happy to hear Wimbley is doing better! Hang in there little guy! We love you!
Keep fighting Wimbley, you can do it. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your Mum xx
Sending prayers to you, stay strong. I hope you feel better soon, you are so precious.
All my prayers and thoughts for you Wimbley <3 :'(
Whims… Pippin and I have a very big sad over this. We love your posts so much. I know some peoples don’t understand loving Rat the way your folks ( and this family ) do. But, the Good Lord doesn’t make junk. Rat Is GOOD ! Sending much luvs and smootches…. As a side note: Your mission to teach peoples is good. I have had boyz and girlz, mostly Boyz… and Pippin is #15 ( always had 2 at a time, sometimes 3 ) …. I have NEVER heard of the the HLP or the PT before. So, I’m guessing none of my kidz ever had them. They always got mammary tumors, ( even the boyz ). So, I will know down the road. Oh Whims… Live Long & Prosper… you are Very much loved.
I’ve had one like that. And I miss him so much. We carried him back and forth between the cage and bedroom.
I’m so sorry. PT is what I was afraid of. It can strike really young; is not just a disease of old rats. As I mentioned, I have a boy with PT right now myself. Having lost several rats to this disease, I hate it with a passion. Here’s hoping the medicines help and that you and Wimbley have a lot more time together.
Wimbley, get better soon pretty boy♡♡
Glad to see Wimbley is still bright-eyed and himself. Really hoping that the medicine works (but dreading if it is really PT). Oh, Wimbley, please be well!! You are such a young and happy rat with so many more adbentures to go on!!
